I hope this information helps, if you will have a similar problem.

“I purchased my craftsman 2 stage twin v air compressor model 919.167783 in 2007. A few days ago it started leaking air at the pressure switch release valve on the side of the pressure switch. I know that it normally releases a blast of air there when the compressor shuts off. It now leaks continuously any time the pressure switch is in the off position. I replaced the pressure switch with a new sears craftsman switch and the new switch leaks air just like the old one. Is the new switch defective or is there another problem to look for? The compressor will run and build pressure as it always has but when it reaches the cut off point the air will continue to leak from the pressure release valve. If you manually turn the switch to the off position before it reaches the cutoff cycle it will start leaking as soon as you cut it off, if you cut it back on it will continue to build pressure until it reaches the cutoff point and again start leaking air.

Thanks for any advice you might offer!!”

Thank you for the question.

I believe you are referring to the relief on the side of the pressure switch. The relief valve is use to relieve the pressure in the pump and the line when it turns off. If air continues to leak out of the valve when it is turned off, the check valve is defective. The check valve is a one-way valve that allows the air to enter the tank but not come back out. You can try to clean the check valve first. The instructions for cleaning the check valve are posted in the image . If cleaning the check valve does not cure the problem, I recommend replacing the check valve.

Ingersoll-Rand is about multimillion industrial company ( New York Stock Exchange data on 28 September 2011 IR$ 32.7131.500.00). It is Global diversified industrial founded back in 1871. Ingersoll Rand is one of 13th S&P 500 index companies incorporated outside of United States. Headquarters are in Dublin, Ireland.

Company product range is rather large such as air compressors and systems, pumps, material handling systems, tools and other products. Ingersoll Rand products are energy efficient and service is on high level. Besides, of above products the Company is one of the global leaders in creation of golf and utility vehicles.

We can talk much about Ingersoll Rand products. To show how great products are I give an example about expanded contact-cooled rotary screw air compressor line with the R-Series 55-75 kW / 75-100 hp range.

“With the 55-75 kW range of R-Series compressors we are able to introduce new features and options that deliver reliability, efficiency and productivity for our customers, while providing the same industry-leading benefits offered by the larger 90-160 kW R-Series compressor range,” said Robert Horneman, global portfolio manager for Ingersoll Rand.

The new range of compressors is equipped with the Xe-Series controller, which features a high resolution LCD color display that provides immediate and intuitive access to all vital compressor data and settings. Further, the controller allows access and remote control of the compressor from any PC, tablet or smartphone via the internet and can send automatic email notifications of trips and warnings.

The integrated Total Air System (TAS) dryer and filtration option provides clean, dry air in a single package, minimizing installation costs and footprint while allowing single-point maintenance and monitoring for the complete system. The Total Air System option comes with refrigerated dryer technology and a high efficiency coalescing filter to deliver ISO Class 1-4-2 quality air. The TAS option utilizes a patented 3-in-1 heat exchanger, which improves energy efficiency and lowers operating cost when compared to traditional stand-alone dryers.
In addition to the new Xe-Series controller and TAS option, the 55-75 kW R-Series range boasts the same advanced features introduced with the larger 90-160 kW / 125-200 hp range: PACTM protection, V-ShieldTM technology, and sequential cooling. Progressive Adaptive ControlTM (PAC) protection is an integrated, intelligent system that monitors filtration, ambient temperature and other parameters and adapts the operation of the compressor in order to reduce energy consumption, lower noise and increase uptime. V-Shield technology is a superior configuration using stainless steel pipes, durable metal-flex hoses and a vibration isolation system to eliminate possible leak paths. Sequential cooling utilizes a centrifugal blower, which consumes less energy and operates much quieter than traditional cooling fans.

R-Series compressors are designed for reduced maintenance and easy serviceability. By utilizing swing out separator covers, longer life consumables, easy-access hinged doors, single side maintenance access and slide out coolers, the time needed to service and maintain the compressors has been significantly reduced.

Positive Displacement Compressors

Rotary screw compressors work most commonly by mating two rotors which are meshed together. They trap the air and compress it along the rotors. They are available in lubricated or oil free types. They have an advantage over reciprocating types because they can be operated continuously at full load while reciprocating types must be used in a start/stop mode and only at 60% or below. They are also quieter and the air produced is easier to dry but this compressor may not be the best choice.

Reciprocating compressors are smaller in horsepower, are driven by an electric motor, and are most often used to feed air to building systems. Large compressors of this type have generally gone out of use and are not commercially manufactured any more.

Vane compressors are less efficient than reciprocating compressors and also are smaller than the rotary screw compressors. They are usually used where floor space is at a minimum.

Negative Displacement Compressors

Centrifugal compressors have fewer rubbing parts than reciprocating compressors of the same size and give higher airflow while being more energy efficient. They need several stages to achieve the higher compression ratio and that is a drawback. Their best uses are ones that require high volume but little pressure increase. Industry uses these compressors to increase oil production in oil fields and in smaller turbojet aircraft powered by gas turbine engines.

Axial air compressors have turning and non turning foils powered by a turbine which work together to both guide and increase the pressure of air flow. Jet engines are one application for this type of compressor.

Safety Considerations Related To The Operator Of Smaller Compressors

- Reading the instructions are the first step to safely operate any air compressor.

- If it is powered by gasoline, remember that gasoline is highly flammable so let the engine cool at least two minutes before adding more fuel.

- Wear both safety glasses and ear plugs.

- Maximum pressure for the compressor is set by the manufacturer so don’t increase it.

- Be sure the pressure safety-valve ring is in a grounded receptacle.

- Never point the air stream at yourself or others.

- Release the remaining compressed air from the tank when finished.

- Before servicing the compressor shut off the motor, unplug the unit, and turn off the regulator valve.

- Finally, always follow the manufacturer’s safety rules.

The portable compressors do vary in their size and according to their performance power. There are various types of compressors that are available and the choice depends on what tools you would be using. You must first check the strength of your tools and then select the model which would suit them the most. It is advisable to opt for a little more powerful than required so that it is always sufficient to do all your work.

Whatever type of the item do you purchase, you need to maintain some safety rules and take some precautions before starting off with the job. You should always wear goggles while working with the instruments, to protect your eyes. Protective clothing like long-sleeved shirt and full trousers should be worn while operating the equipment. Work boots or sturdy sneakers should be worn to protect the feet while working.

Perhaps the most important question of all when it comes to thinking about buying an air compressors is do you really need to buy one? If you use an air compressor for an odd job every now and then, you’re probably much better off simply renting one when you need to.

If you use an air compressor often, though, then you probably should go ahead and buy one, since those rental fees or leasing fees do add up over time.

When you start planning for your actual air compressor purchase, you’ll want to first consider what types of jobs you’ll be using it for. Since air compressors are rated and sold according to horsepower, you need to know what horsepower is needed for the particular tools you’ll need be using the air compressor with. Don’t start your shopping until you know this or you may end up buying more horsepower than you needor can really afford.

Which brings us to step two in purchasing an air compressor: set a budget for your purchase. There are a multitude of air compressors out there, and the price range varies significantly. If your budget is small, you may want to look into used or refurbished air compressors. Often, this a great way to get a terrific buy on a top brand name one that you couldn’t otherwise afford.

Once you know exactly how much horsepower your air compressor should have and how much you can spend, you’re ready to start shopping. The place to start is on the Internet. You can easily find air compressors for sale online. You can also find product reviews on them that can be of great assistance to you in making your purchase.

You can also do some comparison shopping for used air compressors at auction sites like eBay. Sites such as this are a great way to buy a high quality air compressor at an affordable price. Still, don’t buy more horsepower than you need or you may find your air compressor is not compatible with the tools you want to use it with.

And stick to that budget! When shopping around, it’s easy to either get overwhelmed and just buy something or to get carried away and buy something you can’t truly afford. That’s why it’s essential to know what you’ll be using your air compressor for and to have a budget in place. Research is always a good idea to ensure you get the best value for your money.

Which is, after all, the point! Remember, you want to get the best air compressor possible, while spending the least amount of money possible and still purchase a high quality air compressor. So do your homework.

Air compressors are based on the energy in the air that’s under pressure. They all perform the same basic function- converting electric power or gas into kinetic energy. What exactly does this mean? Electric energy is the flow of charge by atoms. Electric potential increases when positive and negative atomic bits are far away from each other. Positive and negative charges attract, so the farther away they are, the more energy it will take to bring them together. If there are two positive bits or two negative bits stuck together, there will also be a large amount of electric potential energy because they are repelled by each other. They will want to exert a large amount of energy in order to get away from each other. It is this movement and flow of charged particles that creates an electric current like the one you plug your hair dryer into.

The Law of Conservation of Energy states that energy never disappears, it is just transformed into another kind of energy. This is exactly what electric air compressors do. They take the electric energy from the power source and convert it into kinetic energy. Kinetic energy has to do with motion. Say you’ve eaten a light breakfast before going for a run; the food you ate gave you chemical potential energy, and when you start to run, it transforms into kinetic energy, because you’re moving, and thermal energy, because your body is starting to heat up. In an air compressor, the kinetic energy is increased by compressing the air (surprise!). Then, the compressed air is released in quick bursts from the device.

Positive-displacement air compressors achieve this by putting the air into an area of small volume, which forces it to compress. Gases, as a state of matter, will change volume to fit whatever container they are put in. Particles in a gas, like air, prefer to be as far apart as possible, kind of like kids in the backseat on a long road trip. This is why when you spray perfume or cologne, in a few seconds you can smell it across the room. The particles have spread out to fill the entire room, and have gotten as far away from each other as they can. So, it’s entirely possible to force a gas to have a smaller volume, but the gas particles won’t necessarily be happy about it. If you make them go too close together, it enacts a phase change from gas to liquid, so we don’t want to do that. Rotary screw compressors, one of the most common types, also use positive-displacement compression. They match two helical screws that force air into the chamber and reduce the volume as they are turned.

Non-positive-displacement air compressors use spinning impellers to accelerate and decelerate the air, pressurizing it through centrifugal force.

A great benefit of electric air compressors is the fact that they provide a central source of power for a plenitude of tools, instead of a bulky motor for each one. Additionally, this means there are fewer parts to worry about, and fewer parts that will wear out. Tools sans individual motors are lighter, more compact, and easier to handle.

A pressure switch is used to stop the motor when tank pressure reaches a certain amount, usually a little over 125 psi, although usually that much pressure isn’t even needed. You will be able to set the pressure requirements on your tool to reduce waste.

From the laboratory to your garage or job-site, electric air compressors are a handy way to reduce bulk and increase available space, as well as providing a long-lasting source of energy. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone; the tools you use with it will last longer than others, and worry about wear and tear on lots of different parts will be something of the past.

Some simple steps to help You choose the right air compressor for home use. Excluding details about air compressor pressure switch and so on.

An air compressor is a revolutionary device, which is used to convert electric power or gas into kinetic energy by compressing air. The compressed air is then let off in quick bursts. The device is used for a number of purposes, ranging from powering tools like wrenches, paint sprayers or grinders to blowing up toys a snap or inflating car tires. The air compressor is extensively used in offices and shops. But the device can be pretty handy for domestic purposes as well.

Here are some easy tips on selecting a right home air compressor:

Step 1: As aforesaid, the compressor works on a simple scientific formula: compressing a gas (air) into a storage tank and then letting off the compressed air in short bursts. One has to consider that the pressure of that burst should be powerful enough to power a wide range of tools.

Step 2: Carry out a competitive analysis of the compressors on the basis of air flow, which is gauged in CFM (cubic feet per minute) or SCFM (standard cubic feet per minute). An ideal home air compressor should come with SCFM or CFM at 90 pounds per square inch (PSI). it’s notable that minor household tools such as nailers need up to 1-5 CFM. The requirement increases to 10 CFM in larger tools.

Step 3: The size of the storage tank is also an important factor. A larger tank will power tools for a longer period of time as compared to a smaller tank. But the requirement is bound to vary with every individual. Say, you need a short burst of air to power tools such as a power nailer or an impact wrench, while a paint sprayer will need a air bursts for a longer period of time and most probably a larger tank.

Step 4: Determine the location where you intend to use the compressor. In case you decide to use the compressor inside home, an electric motor will be a safe option. it’s notable that Gasoline-powered compressors are considered as more powerful than electric-powered compressors. However, the gasoline-powered compressors emit relatively lot of fume, making it impossible to use them inside home or building.

Step 5: The weight and shape are also major factors in this regard. Horizontal compressors are lighter and easier to relocate. On the other hand, vertical compressors need less space to store. it’s pertinent to mention here that gasoline-powered compressors can be pretty heavier and one may find it difficult move them on own.

We hope you would take keep in mind these helpful points while selecting your home air compressor

I’m the kind of particular person who goes over my household expenditures using a fine-tooth comb each month to see if you will discover any areas where I can cut back and save some income. A few months ago I noticed that we had been paying nearly $20 per month for on-demand roadside assistance that we in no way employed. After doing some research, I decided that a flashlight, jumper cables, flares, and a mini air compressor would likely be sufficient to get me out of most jams, so I bought those points and discontinued my roadside assistance membership.

The cause for including a flashlight, jumper cables, and flares is likely self-evident. These are important tools that may either get your car up and running once again if the battery dies or that will maintain you safe from other drivers until assist arrives. But the mini air compressor is something that may take a bit of explaining, given that not numerous persons retain one of these in their vehicles – which is surprising, given that I think this is surely the most useful tool out on the bunch.

The mini air compressor I have is often a quite basic 300psi model that will run on batteries or plug into the cigarette lighter for power. It’s terrific for topping off my tires to make sure that I get the ideal mileage feasible, and is also comforting to have in case of a flat. It can take an inexperienced particular person upwards of 30 or 40 minutes to alter a tire, but using a mini air compressor, you possibly can merely refill the tire without any true exertion and drive (quite carefully) towards the nearest service station to have somebody else alter it for you.

And obviously the mini air compressor does not just sit in my trunk all the time. I also can use it for several tasks around the house and yard, like inflating bicycle tires, footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, or any on the pool toys that my kids have. In addition, I can use it to inflate our camping mattresses in record time compared for the old foot pump that I utilised employ for the job.

My mini air compressor cost me less than $20, and I’m completely pleased with it. You will discover far more pricey models on the market for those that require actual power for bigger jobs, but for the uses I described here, there’s no purpose to spend too much.

If you’re searching for a versatile tool that you possibly can use once again and once again for everything from a quick flat tire fix to inflatable toys, then purchasing a mini air compressor makes sense. For about the cost of a single month in a roadside assistance club, you’ll be able to get one of these items for yourself and begin saving income on services you by no means use. I’ve become a convert for certain!

We also provide rental air compressors and genuine parts and service. Summit Sierra is rated to provide superior service for 8,000 hours in most air compressor applications. In addition to the annual savings in electricity, the new compressors provide Bodine with a more reliable supply of compressed air. Provide adequate ventilation to keep compressor cool; cool air is easier to compress than hot air. For instance, in industrial settings compressors provide the necessary air for air purification systems, air lock systems, blast forges and temperature control systems. A cheap way to provide cooler air is to duct outside air directly into the compressor inlet. Conventional miniature air compressors that provide energy efficiency are typically 10X too expensive due to costly miniature electric motors.

The obvious solution is to carry an air tank or air compressor with you on the trail. Mounting options for the air compressor may include skid or base plate mounted, tank mounted or portable. A compressor tank doesn’t produce air, it only stores air. Once you have purchased your compressor you might consider a air tank as well as the on board installation kit. More style tank air compressorTwo-pole, 3450 RPM capacitor start induction motor for maximum air deliveryHeavy duty, cast iron cylinder construction and large 8 oz.

The Max-Air 55 is a dependable high quality breathing air compressor designed for continuous duty at an affordable price. The Max-Air 90 is a dependable high quality breathing air compressor designed for continuous duty at an affordable price. Of course, the most sturdy compressors have a 100% duty cycle, meaning that they can output air continuously. The rotary compressor, therefore, is a continuous duty, air cooled or water cooled compressor package.

Also features an air compressor, hose and three different valve adapters so you’re always prepared. Simultaneously, a valve at the intake of the compressor closes to prevent air from being drawn into the intake. However, a compressor with modulation followed by unloading controls uses a throttle, turn, or poppet valve to modulate airflow to match plant air requirements. As the compressor capacit 1000 y is reduced, the slide valve opens, bypassing a portion of the compressed air back to the suction. These are fitted on the inlet of most types of compressor and the valve opens and closes to throttle the air flow. When you are finished using the air compressor, you should shut off the motor, unplug it, and turn off the regulator valve. Also, compressor rental, valve repair and rebuilding services. The investigation found that the air outlet valve from the compressor was in the closed position.

If air is drawn from a cool, dry source, rather than from a hot compressor house, the system will operate more efficiently. The system is completely backed up, so that even if one air compressor goes completely out of service, production will continue. Moisture is reduced because the EARS system is not sucking in fresh, ambient air (which contains humidity) to fill the compressors. There were several changes to the system including the addition of a new AC drive to a 11 kW air compressor. Check potential sequencing of compressors to operate most efficient compressors for total system air requirement. Systems include compressor, motor and controller or direct drive, and all air system elements required for optimum, reliable, durable, low cost performance.

A very cheap way to save on compressed air costs is to duct outside air directly into the compressor inlet. The temperature of the air drawn in by the compressor will have a significant effect on your running costs. Reducing the distance the air has to travel from air compressor units will save you in energy costs. Advances in engine control technologies and availability of standardized packages have further reduced equipment and operating costs of these air compressors.

Companies like Curry and Ready-Air sell electric compressors that you mount in your engine compartment. making a air compressor with my engine. Start reading this making a air compressor with my engine. Align engine and air compressor pulleys.

In piston-compressors the piston may act on the air either directly or by the intermediary of water, which serves as packing. In a reciprocating compressor the air is compressed by a piston in a cylinder. The reciprocating air compressor is single acting when the compressing is accomplished using only one side of the piston. The reciprocating air compressor accomplishes this by a piston within a cylinder as the compressing and displacing element.

building, which currently uses the central air compressor unit on campus. This high quality air compressor unit feeds 30 psi of air through the Air Assist structure, giving you the best cutting available. Look at moving the compressor unit closer to the location at which the compressed air needs to be used. There are compressors where you take the air directly from the unit and have to be turned and off constantly. http://www.air-compressor-part.com/

Your gas furnace is not working and you think that the pressure switch is bad. Here are some things to check and the steps to replace it. Replacing is not very difficult at all, in fact it is one of the easiest thing that you can replace yourself.

Your gas furnace purge blower runs and never shuts off but your furnace is not producing any heat. Or your igniter will glow, light the burners and then the furnace will shut right back down and try to recycle all over again. Either one of these conditions are common if the switch is going bad or has failed.

You can check the switch by placing a jumper wire across the wires going to the switch once the purge blower has started. If the burner lights and stays lit the pressure switch is probably your problem. Could be a weak blower, but I would try the pressure switch first; it is much less expensive to replace.

Once you isolate that this switch is faulty, then you can change it. This is very simple. For most furnaces the wiring is low voltage, so the risk of shock is minimal. You should still turn off the power to be safe. Remove the screws that secure the switch and then just switch the two wires over to the new switch and secure the screws again.
That’s all there is too it a very simple operation.

Turn the power back on to the furnace. Re-fire the furnace and check the operation of the unit. It takes a while for the unit to cycle through the lighting process but you should have a furnace that now heats your house just fine.
